  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Does Snopes have anything on this? It would seem almost impossible for someone to really do this. I say optical illusion too.

That was my first thought. In slo mo and minimized (for clarity) you can see her look at the hoop and her left hand whacks it as she passes. Good optical illusion though.

I loved the head bump look from her, was like OUCH!. I would have to think her feet would be caught in the net was my first thought. No way could she slip all the way through there even skinny as she is.

I have watched that video over and over again in slow mo. She is in front of the hoop. It's an optical illusion IMHO.
I beg to differ with you...I also have watched several times all the way through, in slow motion, and using stop motion and for starters, she is thin enough to pass through but that's not all...if you look carefully enough as she is coming down you can see the orange rim of the hoop in front of her as she passes through...if she came down in front of the hoop her body would block the orange rim and you would not see it...she is apparently a gymnast...and it does not look like this was just done on the spur of the moment...my guess, they measured and tested, and she must have tried with hoops mounted lower to make sure of her ascent, the force necessary to launch her properly, and her descent...my opinion, it's real...seeing the orange of the hoop in front of her as she comes down is what does it for me...if you look at it frame by frame you can see it properly...

PS - Just watched it again and managed to stop it on the frame where the first twelve inches of her leg are inside and down through the hoop...the orange rim is very clear in front of her legs...no doubt about it...you can clearly see her legs going through the hoop...IMO, not faked...

Definitely fake, she's in front of the hoop. A basketball hoop is the width of 2 basketballs, she has the possibility of seriously hurting herself.

What are you watching it with where you can watch with such control?

Using the viewer on YouTube it looks like she is in front of it to me. :dunno:

I agree, plus look at her head in relation to the hoop. That would more than a "Oh, I bumped my head." That is one of the many things I had seen when pausing. In earlier frames her entire torso is out of alignment with the hoop. Feet extended out. I just don't buy it.

Good job Todd. I couldn't get those saved to post. Thanks.

That last one was exactly what I was talking about.

Not only is her head and back not 'inside' the hoop in the above picture her thighs aren't 'inside' the hoop in this one either.
Then what is the blur of orange that's horizontally in front of the mid-point on her thigh in this picture? Looks to me like it's the hoop but I am open to reversing my opinion if someone can explain it to me...I studied it and so did my step-son and both of us keep seeing a blur of orange in front of her thighs at this point...if she was outside the hoop her legs would block that blur of orange, and no orange would be seen at all as she comes down...

I'm actually in the clip (the guy on the left) ... and all I can say is we had a good video editor.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing I guess.

The front edge (right side) of her thigh is outside the diameter of the hoop in that pic.
