  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Back in June I bought a few tins of Tobacco and one of them was JackKnife Plug. first problem wasn't found out for a couple of months. started smoking small slices of the tobacco and liked it well. I thought I would try it in a bigger bowl pipe and when I cut off a nice chunk I had what looks like wood. A Small sliver of wood that looks like it was placed there in the tobacco. After some talk others that had smoked it in the past and present say they haven't ever seen in their tobacco such wood. Well i try and contact the maker of the tobacco, And for months now they still have the same thing. They are waiting for a new PO box and because of SPAM mail you have to contact them through a web form......... I wouldn't have a problem with that if the darn thing would work. After writing loads of words in the thing give them my address, phone, and email for however they want to contact me they have the ways. I hit send and an error that says my Email is not valid really REALLY....... I try and try with every email i own and get the same error. Well I like the tobacco so i kept cutting off some and removing the slivers of wood and smoking up the tobacco. I got down to about 2 bowls left. I could get it all in 1 but want to save some. So i let it sit. last bowl was late last month I think. Put it in the Tin, top on, Put it in a Jar. Have it set to where the temp don't get over 75 not in view of sunlight and today i think lets get some jackKnife. I open it up and now in one area only there is Mold. Has to be mold but how can it be. I open all the other tobaccos I have stored next to this one and they are all fine. Strange thing is that the area seems to be localized to 3 sides of the block. When I cut the tobacco, before and after use I would take Alcohol and clean the blade of the knife. let it rest a couple of minutes to make sure it was dry and cut off my slice. i just don't understand why GLP.... So again today I try and send them a message about the issues of past and present and again i get the error of invalid email. That is funny i have had the same email for many many years. I even sent message on fb and still no return or fixed message system.

This kind of ticks me off. I know I know I have plenty of tobacco who cares. Well as much issues i have had i do really enjoy this tobacco. Nothing to Rave over but like to add it in the mix of things.

I didn't even save all the wood i took out of the tobacco a couple I burned, one i tasted LoL and a couple of others I tossed away before I thought anything about it....

Man. Makes me worry about tins in the cellar. Not a lot of recourse left if you let something age a couple years just to find out it was bad from the beginning. What to do...
Anyone done any Google-fu on this yet to see if it's a recurring theme?

Exactly...

We might have to crack the tins and put them in jars.
