  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey all, i'm a bit of a cigar newbie and so far I have just tried a few Gurkhas and although they are nice, they are too strong for my taste. I wanted to ask you guys what are some good creamy/sweet flavored cigars without that strong peppery/woodiness to them, but instead a smooth flavor. Any help and recommendations would be great.

thanks guys

Here's a few ideas; be sure to pay special attention to which particular cigar you're buying in any given brand, because most manufactuers make cigars that range from "mild" to "thermonuclear" and you don't want to buy the wrong one!

Example: An Arturo Fuente Hemingway is sweet and pleasant with a mild-to-medium body and just the slightest hint of punchiness. Sounds nice, eh? But if you reached over to the next box and grabbed an Arturo Fuente Fuente Fuente Opus X, you'd likely toss your lunch by the halfway point. LOL

Cusano 18 Connecticut
Avo Classic
Fonseca Natural
The Griffin's Robusto
Davidoff No.1/No.2/No.3
Cu-Avana Natural
Arturo Fuente Hemingway
Cuvee Blanc
Ashton Cabinet Series
CAO Gold
Macanudo Cafe Series

So give some of those a whirl, and enjoy! There's a tremendous variety of subtle complexities in mild cigars not found in the heavier bodied smokes. I don't typically smoke the mild cigars too often, but every time I smoke a nice one, I appreciate how lovely a mild smoke can be.

Also give the ROcky Patel Edge Lite a try. It's a very creamy smooth smoke. Great for a novice or beginner smoker. It's what i give my brother when he wants one. About $5 a piece.

Sweet, sweet? Try the Torano Reserva Decadencia, if you can find one.

If not, the Hemingway is a good, sweet cigar. Try the classic or similar size. The short ones (like the best seller or short story) smoke far too hot, IMO.

Yeah the Hemingway line comes to mind first for me only because it's the only cigar that actually gave my lips a "sugary" taste.

The Sol Cubano Sumatra is a nice smoke, sweet with a little chocolate hints though out. Not that expensive either.
