Yep, I'm a fan. Bein' a bit of a geek myself, I can relate. It also doesn't hurt that I've gotten some damn good recipes from the show. I'll never use box mix pancakes again.
I love to cook but that guy drives me nuts. I have watched the show on numerous occasions because he does know his food science. I used some of his burger ideas today actually. With that said, I can't say I am a fan. He just annoys the heck out of me. Now, if you are talking Rachael Ray...well I'm a big fan. :hearteyes Please don't ask me why I find her attractive...lets just leave it at " I have problems". :eyequiver

But the shows format drives me nuts. Don't try to entertain me, TEACH me. The man knows how to cook, but it seems to me that his handlers are aiming at the lowest common denominator. I don't want to see any cute, tv magic shit. Show me how to cook something new. I don't want the jokes, or the cuts to the chicken in the cage.
Personally, I like to watch cooking shows to learn something, not to be entertained. 99% of the Food Network is bullshit. I watch PBS cooking shows for information now, not Food Network.
Teach me something new, do not try and entertain me, and for God sake, if you are some celebrity Chef, don't tell me about your family.......'cause I don't give a fuck.

Never seen Alton's show, so that is how I voted. Rachel Ray is hot as balls for sure. Wife has made many of her 30 minute meals and all but 1 is to our liking. I can see how she could be annoying to some, but she is a hottie.
