After weeks of waiting for our first B&M to open up had the occasion to stop by with my stogie cash in hand to do some shopping. First off they kept the acid cigars in there walk in with every thing else which made me take pause but hey there new . They didn't have prices listed on there boxes or sticks yet so I figured I would just grab a Olivia sere G PC to take home with me and let there stock build up at the shop a little more before I got my buying on to restock my desk top that's getting thin. Step up to check out and they hit me $18.00 for a Olivia G WTF . I know B&M's need to have a markup to keep the lights on but really you don't need to make your monthly expenses off the first few boxes you've got for sale.

Sadly with these prices ill be going back to the Internet for my sticks or wail until I make the hour drive to someplace that doesn't need to RAPE there customers .

um... new mexico doesn't have some crazy stupid OTP tax higher that NY state or canada, does it? WOW!

i have seen acids in with other stock, and personally never noticed a difference (walk in sized, a cabinet might be another matter), but that pricing sounds like they are either not buying right, not informed on the industry, or don't give a toss. yeah, some combination of one or all of those.

sorry about the butt hurt on that purchase, and remember you can always ISO here if all else fails. o)

The Acid thing doesn't bother me. My B&M keep them in the walk in with the boxes closed and you couldn't possibly tell. The price though is frakking mentally retarded! Go somewhere else, it doesn't matter they won't be around for long...

Even with 25% NM cigar taxes an Oliva G should cost you less than 1/2 that. Depending on the size though $18 would not be unrealistic for an Oliva V Melanio. ( a Melanio PC should have been no more than 10-$12). My guess is that without prices on the cigars, whoever rang you up looked at a price sheet and picked up the wrong price or (if they are using a scanner) whoever set up pricing in their system for the UPC codes accidentally typed in the Melanio price for the regular Oliva UPC code.

Being that it is a new shop I would give them the benefit of the doubt and go back to speak with the owner. If there was a mistake made on their end I'm sure that they would appreciate knowing about it since they are a new business and are looking for as many customers as possible. If they truly are charging $18 for a regular Oliva G then I'm with you, buy on the internet. My guess is that they made some sort of mistake though.

I've seen some crazy prices (well crazy for me) at some smaller b&ms. but Holts in Philly compared to any other b&m isn't even fair as far as price and selection, I could compare their prices in store to some online retailers in all honesty.. as far as the acid thing, doesn't really strike a chord because of the size of the humidor but to bring it to my world, Holts has a separate cabinet humidor inside their walk in that they keep infused stuff in

Yeah, Arkansas has crazy Tax% and even I dont pay that much for a G serie......

Did you ask him about the price? There could have been a screw up? Maybe someone meant to mark those $8, but left a $18 on the gun? I dont know.... Thats just all sorts of crazy rediculous!

Good luck man!

First week is always hard in a new business so ill stop back in to give them another shot. I hope that they were just in the first week bugs but it does bother me a little that the box of acids were sitting next to the box of Padrone 1926's . I think the idea of asking the owner not just his kids running there scanner might be a good option for getting to the bottom of prices like that! I do live in a SMALL town so we do get used to getting gigged on prices. Honestly I was sorta in shock so I just put down a 20 and got out of there

The B/M near me keeps their infused on a separate shelf from everything else. They're in the same gigantic walk in, but it does make me worry a bit. I try to stay away from what's been in there for a long while that's close to the infused.

I imagine it won't hurt it, but that's that.

I don't see where the infused inside cellophane inside a walk in humidor with plenty of air movement is going to mar the flavor. Now if it was touching yeah I can see that but unless they sit next to each other for months how does it hurt?

I wouldn't come back. I am sorry but I don't like a B&M with prices over 75% or more of the normal price. One of my local B&M sells Padron 3000 at $10 and $11 a stick...another sells it for $6!
