Today I was reunited with my first love. No, I am not talking about my ex GF, I am referring to my first electric guitar I bought back in 1988. I haven't played in a number of years now and I lost 6 guitars in the fire at my place last year. This guitar was in the attic at my folks house and was recently found when cleaning it out. It is in pretty bad shape and not really worth fixing up but I will clean it up and hang it on the wall at the new place.

Congrats! I set my first guitar on fire by dousing it in lighter fluid and holding it over a grill, then I sold it to some complete dumbass. I do still have my second guitar though, and will never part with it!

Doesn't look bad at all. Sure it would play fine after a tune up. My old guitar player has my first guitar but I have all my others since. G1

Congrats on the find; the first of anything always has a special place. Am I showing my age that I don't know any of the bands on those stickers? I presume that is what they are.)

I was 18 in 1988...seems like the stone age.

After thinking about it today, I'm debating on whether to do a restoration on this beast. I think I can easily do all the cosmetic clean up and rust removing myself. It will need new 2 new pots, a selector switch and all new wiring. I know it needs new wiring because that's the reason it went into retirement. The pick ups are probably shot as well and looking at pricing them out they aren't cheap. So much as I could buy a new guitar for the cost as replacing all pick ups.

I took all the stickers off today, just need to get some goo gone to get the adhesive off.

Restore that bad boy. It will be a great project and worth it when it really performs for you when it is completed. It takes a long time for a new guitar to get any soul. Can't beat an instrument with a great story...my 2c.

Was looking for embarrassing pictures of Craig, but finally frustrated myself and decided to just post this old pic of Bob instead...

Most of the bands in those stickers were small VA based bands we played with. I worked for a print shop and we used to do group buys and get stickers done. It was kind of a thing to put each others stickers all over and show support for each other.
