BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

It works well, talks to me and tells me where to go. It has a lot of features that I have yet to use but has done me well so far.

I have it on my Verizon phone and use it at least a half a dozen times a week. Being in my phone I have it with me all the time. I travel a lot and depending on where I am may be on foot. On a recent trip I was in my hotel room and found the local cigar place and a place to eat. Once you put your search in and locate what you want you can select call and make contact with the business. Awesome. I would not be bothered with an in-car model. YMMV
I've got the tomtom 300. It's sleek but doesn't have the bells a whistles. You can get it for about $200.

After my reserch I ended up with same model. Love mine. Mostly what I heard is Tom Tom most features for the money, but don't always last a long time. This brand is middle of the road and Magelan is best, but pricey.
I have the TomTom One v3, which they renamed to something else. They have a version with text to speech (So it says street names) for $200. The software on it is great, easy to find what you want. Plus you can download voice packs so you can have Mister T yell directions at you.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 200, it's the least expensive, but it still gets the job done. If anything, I would recommend a Garmin over any of the others. My father-in-law has the Magellan and my Garmin found places that the Magellan did not. Just this past weekend we were camping and I used it to find a local smoke shop and then we tried his but it came back with 0 results. The only drawback to my Garmin is how long it takes to "acquire satelites" maybe a min or 2 at most, but it's annoying.

I have a Garmin nuvi. Works great. I use it every week to get me to gigs in Atlanta.
Garmin Nuvi 360. I paid $250 last Feb and got it for a Valentine's Day gift for the wife. It's small, works great, and has a good battery. A friend got the widescreen version and I don't think what's displayed is worth what you lose in portability, so I'd stick with the small screen. Also the bluetooth speakerphone could work better. It's nice, but if it cost more than about $50 extra I'd just get a separate bluetooth speakerphone for the car.
