Gran Habano #5 and Padron in Humidor.

Hi all,

I am a new cigar smoker and new to he forum - Great place you guys got here.

I am just wondering if any of you out there have smoked a Gran Habano #5 rothschild and also Padron 3000. I have noticed that as I get more experienced I am noticing more flavors in my cigars.

This morning I smoked a Padron 3000 that was a delicious cigar - One of my new favorites. I smoked a Gran Habano #5 after dinner tonight and had found a slight similair taste to it as the Padron. I am hoping that the Padrons are not marying with my Gran Habanos in my humidor.
I keep my smokes in a 58qrt tupperdor stacked in spanish cedar trays. The #5's are in a top tray on the left side with the padons in the bottom tray on the right.

I have read here quite a bit and most seem think that marrying should not be an issue.
I have other smokes in there as well but have not had a chance to smoke any of the others yet.

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the BOTL! You really should not see any marrying within your humi for quite some time (and I mean years upon years upon years). The only real issues that you may see if a short period of time would be with infused cigars and non infused! Great question!

As already stated, the marriage question is not an issue. What is more likely is that your palate had not quite "recovered" from the Padron when you smoked the GH#5, especially if you're not used to smoking 2 sticks in a day.

I've smoked both, and enjoy both a lot. But can't say that I've noticed many flavors in common, accept maybe a bit of nutty flavor.

I am not sure I fully understand that but you are right - I have been smoking for about 4 months and started out just smoking on the weekends. I have gone from smoking once a day for several weeks to not smoking at all during some weeks. Usually only one smoke a day though.
This week I have smoked every day so far and smoked 2 yesterday.

I think I have learned a fair bit but there is still much to learn. It took a while just to get the storage of my smokes correct. Now my smokes taste better and I am noticing more flavors. I am having to go back and smoke some brands again because of my errors when I smoked them originally.

I will do some more reading on the the palate recovering thing - Thanks for the info.

First... Welcome.

There is not much you can do to help your palate release the taste of a cigar you had hours ago and be able to star fresh with a new one. I rarely smoke more than one cigar a day, but I know what you are talking about.
It just takes time (in every way) With time you will get used to smoking more than one cigar a day... Your palate will adjust to it... you will be able to enjoy a second and third with no problem. Just takes time. Good luck on the journey.
