BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Excellent choice! In all honesty, Rally Week is the only time I don't like being on a bike. Too many newer folks riding way outside their ability, makes things too hairy for my blood! Be sure to stop in at the Deadwood Tobacco Co., conveniently located in Deadwood, if you get the chance. Nice humidor and some rockin' blues music on Friday and Saturday nights.
Thanks for the tip. Was thinking about staying in Deadwood for part of the trip. Looks tourist-y but I could handle that for a day or so. And it's fair centrally located by the look of the map.

I am a little biased but the Hills have some of the absolute best motorcycle roads in the nation! If you haven't been through here before, and still have some flexibility in your trip check out Southdakotarides.com. They have a "virtual map" where the highway department took some video of certain chunks of highway to give people a bit of an idea of what to expect. This all came about, you guessed it, due to trying to curb the number of "accidents" during the rally from unskilled riders thinking they can fly around the pigtails like a pro on the brand new Harley they bought last week.
EDIT: Upon further review, "unskilled" might have been too strong of word. People "riding beyond their skills" is a better description. Be safe folks, it takes lots of practice to maneuver a bike at even moderate speed on these roads, not everyone can do it.

Airhead here. '79 R65. My buddy has a K75, or some such. Everyone knows K bikes have no soul!
I also ride an '06 V-Max, but the Beemer gets the love when I ride during rally time, even a group of Banditos gave me the thumbs up a couple of years ago! At least I think it was their thumbs.
