Hey guys, I did this last year and it was very good...not as good as a fried Turkey but still very good. Plus it left the oven open for the other foods.

I would not reccomend trying to fry a turkey in the house...to much of a fire hazard if something goes wrong.
Oh yea, I think I saw that on the news...where you put the cold turkey in the hot oil and it boils over!

or forget about displacement and put a 20lbd turkey in boiling hot oil that shoots up in the air in flames.

math is hard I know but fill it first with water and see how much it displaces before you fill the oil and start it.

Yeah, if using a gas stove it will ignite...the UL Labratories has a nice video of it. click

Grilling is so easy in a Weber Kettle style grill...once the coals are going you just kickback and wait.

I have been making grilled turkey for years.
But I marinade it overnight by injecting a solution containing wild turkey bar b q sauce.
The family calls it drunken turkey.

Years ago I started grilling the Thanksgiving Turkey on my Weber gas grill. I used a Weber recipe for an Apple brined Turkey. I'll have to see if I can find it and I'll post it here in the next couple of days. It is really good! I let the Turkey sit in the brine for 2-3 days before grilling to really soak up the flavor. I now use the Apple brine for my fried turkeys. The sugar in the brine makes the skin turn black but it tastes incredible! I'm getting hungry already!

I made a brined turkey one year. Used Alton Browns Good Eats recipe. Thing came out so god damn juicy it was amazing.

What you can do to avoid the skin from burning is to cover the breast with foil.

Heres the recipe I used: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_8389,00.html

I bet you could use the apple brine and follow similar steps. Stuffing the inside of the turkey with whole onions and apples cut into wedges makes it juicy too, instead of drying it out with stuffing inside it.
