Got my first 1911 over the weekend.
Kimber Stainless II.

I need a good leather holster for concealed carry.

Preferably a paddle holster of some type.

Any suggestions?

Another vote for Galco. Good gear, but pricy.

I also have a lot of holsters made by F.I.S.T. They will add custom stuff like double thickness on the entry edges, custom tilt angles, lots of leather color choices, closed end, open end, etc......

I carry my Kimber in a F.I.S.T. convertable. Can be carried on the belt or in the waistband and is quite comfy and secure.

The F.I.S.T. holsters are very nice also. BTW, the Kimber is a great choice of weapon. Wish I could carry one.. lol.. I carry an H & K P7 for off duty.

It all comes down to this for holsters. You will probably have to buy a few to find which one works the best for you. Each person carries them in a different fashion, different place for comfort. What works for me, might not for you. I used to carry in the small of my back, now in the right front waistband.

Find a local gunstore that has a great selection and will allow you to try on the holsters. Like I said, you will probably end up buying 3 or 4 over the next 6 months.

Wise words Bill. Most of us who have been doing this awhile have a whole closet full of holsters.......

I too used to carry ISB with a Galco. Although a concealed weapon is supposed to be comforting, not comfortable, over time my body shape changed some and now ISB just does not work for me. Now I usually have mine positioned IWB on the right hip.

If you can not carry a Kimber, the H K is not a bad second choice!
