  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Neither I nor anyone in my family will be getting it. Read the insert from the vaccine. It does contain several hamful preservatives that have been linked to neurological disorders. Some of these preservative are mercury derivatives. They argue it is just as safe as the seasonal vaccine, which also has some of these adjuvants and preservatives in it. So they are saying it is as safe as an already questionable vaccine. Many health care professionals around the world are very reluctant to take the shot as am I.
I don't understand the "questionable-ness" of the annual vaccine. Hundreds of millions of people have gotten it over the last several decades and it has a considerably better side effect profile than many of the most often prescribed medications.

I've done lots of research on this and I can tell you that the links to neurological disorders are much more questionable than the safety of the vaccine.

Actually, we've been trying to make a vaccine for the "common cold" for years. The problem is there are more than 200 different viruses that can cause the "common cold". (I'm actually in Microbiology right now so I had my notebook in front of me to look that up). It is much easier to make a vaccine against 1 pathogen than several hundred.
I know. But me point is if I've not had a shot for even 1 of those virus, why now?

I understand your logic. If you're in Mexico City I'd say you should be fine. Preliminary research indicates that cities that have had previous outbreaks seem to be less affected at this time than other areas. If I remember correctly Mexico City had one of the biggest outbreaks last year, so this year should be relatively less severe.

Also, the logic behind not having a cold vaccine comes from the fact that if you were only vaccinated against one strain you would still have a 99.5% chance of coming into contact with a strain you weren't immune to. Thus people who do not understand how these things work would claim that the vaccine doesn't work because they still got a cold.

Actually many of the syndroms that occur can occuur decades later. Science just does not know what these vaccines do. Look at the squalene (an adjuvant) this has been linked to many types of brain and nervous system inflamations. Desert Storm Syndrome was our first real taste of this. Many vets are just now getting sick. Did the forced innoculations casue this illness. We don't know. It is something they all have in common. And this is something that the H1N1 vaccine has in it.

I actually have done lots of research on squalene because I had a very similar debate with a friend of mine a few months ago. The published "link" that is cited goes like this. 1. Some soldiers that were vaccinated against anthrax developed GWS. 2. Some lots of these vaccines may have contained squalene (nobody is sure either way). 3. Extremely high doses of squalene in mice (1000x the amount that would be received in a human vaccine) might cause a disease similar to GWS in mice.

That is a very weak link IMHO. When we talk about side effects of drugs there are hundreds of case reports and articles describing the occurrences. If you use PubMed to search all of the medical literature for articles published that mention both GWS and squalene there are a total of 6 articles (or at least there were a couple months ago).

Skepticism is a very healthy thing, and I am glad that people are discussing this issue, but misinterpretation of scientific and medical literature is something that really bugs me.

The H1N1 vaccine is in VERY short supply in CA. Many counties have barely received 10% of their promised allotment. At most local colleges, the small supply was exhausted back in early Sept.

My wife received a seasonal flu shot last week due to her job at Stanford Clinic. We both are unlikely to get the H1N1 vaccine anytime soon.

That's pretty common throughout the country right now. Many municipalities are running low or completely out of one or both vaccines. At my current practice site we are expecting to do around 300 shots per day once the H1N1 vaccine is received. If we get what we're supposed to get it won't last more than 3 days and as of yesterday night we had 6 seasonal shots left. They are coming in sporadically so we can't predict from day to day whether they will be available.

As a afirst responder, I'm surprised They aren't forcing you to get it. My wife had to get it as hospital staff. It's not just to protect you, but to protect your patient as well.

There is a Thymerosol-free version of the shot (I.e. Without mercury) available, but you might have to hunt for it a bit. Just call the county board of health. This is the version my wife got beccause she's pregnant and there is a history of Autism in the family.

The Simpsons told me that these vaccines are given so that we buy more around Christmas time.

The TV can't tell lies so I listen to it.

Nothing mandatory here yet, but it is coming soon, All 1st responders and emergency workers and care giver are being asked to get a shot. Here in SC like allot of states can't get enough to give it to who needs it. By the time the shots r here for all , we will have been in the 3rd or 4th wave of H1N1, It has hit the DOE site very hard LOTS of sick people, we had our 1st death related to H1N1 last week (she was a Nurse). So it is not if , it is when.....FEMA and the Health Dept has made a couple of vists to the site already, but when u work in a place that has 8,000 to 10,000 employees running around, someone is going to get sick.......:dunno:

I am getting mine on Thursday. We are expecting our first child on Christmas day and babies are very susceptible to it. If it wasn't for that I don't think I would. I have never had a flu shot before.
