BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Personally I'm a steel guy. Just prefer the way that a steel or alloy pistol feels on my hands.
I have yet to find a plastic trigger that feels good to me as well.
All that said I own a HK USP and a G23 but still prefer my 1911's.

I like the way the steel guns look and feel. I really want to get a Kimber soon.
But, my favorite handgun is the G23. Nice weight, and a good shooter.

I guess I don't really have that much of a preference. I like them both. I have an HK UPS Compact that was my first pistol and I still love it. I also love the Kimber CDP Pro that's fairly new to the stable. I don't really think about "Steel vs Plastic" when I'm looking at a gun I guess.

Love 'em both...polymer semi autos are what I would stake my life on, but I love my steel wheel guns, which I feel are beautiful, finely made tools.

own both and love both, though i am not a glock fan, as long as it goes bang and feeds hollowpoints, thats all i need

While I have both and am interested in anything that shoots. I'm more curious is to what you prefer between the two Steel/Alloy or Polymer/Plastic?

I prefer the steel guns. It's probably more out of habit than anything else. The polymer guns I've tried just don't feel right. A 1911 or steel Sig feels great.
I can't vote on one side or the other because they each have their own purpose. I love the Springfield XDM-9 when it comes to having a gun that can be carried or fun for shooting long periods. When it comes to just going to the range and shredding some paper the first thing I pull out of the safe is a Kimber Gold Match II 1911 without a doubt. No preference in the many guns as each has their own shooting characteristics. Its like whats better a car or truck, need both if you have a wide range of needs.

I pocket carry a Seecamp 32 everyday. It is the smallest 32 that you can buy, its all metal, and at about 12 oz, it pretty damned light. This is a quality gun. I expect it too last a lifetime, then get handed to one of my sons.
I also own a Kel Tec 32, and thats what would be considered a poly pistol. A little bigger than the Seecamp, but a little lighter. Fits in the front pocket pretty well. This gun has also functioned perfectly for me, but quality is not the same as my Seecamp. The Kel Tec's lifetime seems to be about 5000 rounds, so I do not expect this to be a gun to hand down to another generation.

I understand the question, but I'm going to look at this a little different since I think the choice likely comes down to "what tool for what job". If we're talking about which one feels better in my hand, and which do I think is more worthy of praise for how artistically it is put together: I'd go with steel all day long. For example, I love a Stainless 1911. They are absolutly beautiful, and unbeleivably well balanced when shooting. A real joy.
But my view on this is more of a "if I could only have one, what would it be?" Now I'm thinking about needing to carry it, weight, comfort, capacity, and will it work if I'm not able to clean it properly and regularly? Will it hold up to abuse? These sorts of things.
In that case, I'd say a Glock 23 (so, plastic). That's where my vote went.
