  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My wife and I are heading to Playa Del Carmen in a few weeks. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on things to do or places to score good smokes.

I go to Playa Del Carmen three times a year. There are no decent cigars to be bought. They try and sell fake Cubans. You are allowed duty free to bring 25 cigars per person into Mexico. You will be much happier if you bring your own.

There is ( or used to be) a LCDH diagonally across the street from Starbucks on 5th street. There ( and pretty much ONLY there) you will find genuine Cubans, but at LCDH premium pricing.
5th street is a great street to shop, eat, and buy everything from 10-peso souvenirs to a high end stuff. It't parallels the beach, and it's about a mile long. If you want genuine Mexican food, go to where the locals go: El Fogon...Just ask a taxi driver to take you there.

Have fun!
