  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

The sticks you bring are all considered smoked and gone.
Be prepared to give to the utmost. Its all about brotherhood.
With this attitude, everyone goes home with more than what he brought.

Herf Behavior.

Depending upon were you are going be sure to dress appropriate. If its a bar, jeans and sneakers are fine. If its an upper class place you may wanna wear shoes and a collared shirt just to be safe.

Bring some money for food and drinks. Be prepared to buy a few drinks as most people always switch back and forth buying rounds. Make sure you eat something as cigar smoking can do a number on your stomache.

Bring cigars, bring more cigars than you will smoke. There will be a lot of giving, swapping and smoking that day. No one expects any reciprication but it is nice to give it.

Most of all have fun smoke a lot of cigars and drive safely after the herf.

Thanks for clearing up the sharing thing! I honestly hate when I'm smoking outside and a friend comes up and is like 'can I have a puff?'. It's my biggest fucking pet peeve ever, but I didn't want to show up at a herf and not share a cigar and be the asshole.
I'm glad we're all as disgusted by sharing cigars as I am.
Thanks!

All good stuff above....

I've done the puff puff pass but that was with a cigar I would never be able to obtain. I wanted the opportunity to taste the flavors of the cigar. I sample beers with people, a cigar is not a big deal to me.

I always forget to leave room in my caddy for the extra sticks. It seems that no matter how many I give away I end up with more.

Only a few "tips" I would like to add.

1) Have a spare cutter and lighter with you. Someone always bums one or the other just before you'll need it. LOL

2) Take a spare can of fuel. I have met some really great people because of this. You might be surprised how many people take time to pick out there smokes but forget to refill there lighters.

3) Mingle. If it's a larger Herf it might be hard to meet everyone, but try to at least say hi.

What's the rule on, say, sharing cigars? Not giving them out, but like letting someone have a puff of yours. Kosher to offer/ask? I never do and don't really mind if people ask, but also have no clue what the majority of people do.

If the person asking to share is a young lady (over 18) who just missed being a finalist in the SI swimsuit edition, I say ... sharing can be one of the best things in life. Otherwise, keep your puffs to yourself.

Good rule of thumb.
