  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My smoking buddy Woofman & me made it over to Tobacco Road to the Tatuaje event. We had a great time! Took advantage of the special deals, got the box signed by Pete, and drank a few cool ones. We met Mr. Johnson along with several of the regulars. A real good time smoking cigars, and catching the horse races on the boob toob. Picked up a couple of the Black Labels out of the jars with the slight pig tail and shaggy foot. Incredibly good smoke…I hope the 3 robustos can just come close to those, fantastic flavor.

Two boxes of Tats(signed by Pete), hats, cutters, and ten extra sticks, and to top it off won a drawing for a Tatuaje table torch! We left there with sacks brimming with cigar goodies.

Also got a chance to meet a couple BOTLs….Hello to Harpu and Altercall. Thanks for having us over and for the great hospitality. I’m sure we’ll make back to Arlington for some smokes and good conversation.

Enjoy your smokes Gentlemen!

Wow, what an event!!! I got to meet woofman and phrankenstein, great BOTLs and the man himself. Learned a whole lot about Tats, Pepin, Illusiones, ad cigars in general.

Pete kept repeating the phrase "I'm gonna be the one to blow the lid off all the cigar myths." The big one he wants to expose is the "Everything is aged ... long." He said everyone ships em out 30 days after they're rolled, not a year. He talked in depth about how great Pepin is as cleaning the ammonia out of the leaves before they're rolled. He said there's not even a hint of ammonia in Pepin's aging rooms.

The best thing, Pete just hung out! The event was from 4-8. We had over 100 people in and out of there, with probably 20-30 guys there were there for most of it. At somewhere around 9:30 I told Pete it said alot about him that he was still there hanging out and hour and a half after the event was supposed to be over. The only other event I've been to was a Jorge Padron event, and he was out the door at 8:01. The only person he said by to was the shop owner. Pete, well, he rolled out at 11:00. Part of that was that he was trying to finish off my bottle of HC :scratchhe.

Second best part... We got to play a little practical joke on Dion Giolito of Illusione Cigars fame. Dion's got a little bit of a rep as a conspiracy nut. Pete kept texting him that people were walking into the event smoking Illusiones and wearing hats made of aluminum foil. Dion's response, "One article and everyone thinks they know you." Then he sent Dion a picture of one of the "guys" that I'll have to get from a friend of mine. Dion bought it hook line and sinker.

All in all, Pete's just a regular guy. Now he's a regular guy with a budding cigar empire and tons of influence in the cigar community, but just a regular guy. I had a blast! Thanks Jim for putting the event on and I'm looking forward to the Pepin event in August!!!

BTW, anyone got some HC 7 yr aged they'd be willing to part with?:innocent:

Had a great time at the Tatuaje event! Will definately return to the shop and hang with some fellow botl'ers. Pete was a cool fella-signed the bad ass tatuaje hat & a box, spoke with everyone that spoke to him & took pix. Best event I've ever been to. I'm enjoying a tat now & just found out there's gonna be a pepin event there in August! Great finish to the day:bottle:
