High Blood Pressure...."The Silent Killer"

I am asking all of you out there please take a few minutes of your time and have your blood pressure checked. There are several places that offer free blood pressure screenings....TAKE THE TIME AND GET IT DONE...

It would also help to have your blood checked.

I was running 155/103 approx. for years! Finally went to the Doc and am on medication. I was a ticking time bomb!

Yeah. I palyed the game for years. Doctor would say borderline, I'd exercise then move. New doc would say borderline etc etc. Finally got back to CA and this doc asked, how many times have you been told borderline? I've been on meds for four years and it's perfect. Actually got to lower the dose when I lost weight. Its not worth the risk, get it checked.

High blood pressure runs in my family on my mom's side. Her mom had it and she probably didn't weigh over 120-130 in the last 10-15 years of her life. Right now I'm pretty healthy but I'll get it checked when I get older.

Yep - get it checked. Spent one Thanksgiving in the ER because I was having some chest pains - BP was way up there.

Good advice Mitch. I would even suggest everyone on these forums getting a manual cuff for home. They are cheap and fairly easy to use.

High BP runs in my family. I went to the doctor a couple years ago and my BP was a little to high. So he put me on meds and it has been good since. The one thing that got me was I was only 28 at the time and did not think it could effect some one so young, but it can.

Derek very true. I'm 32 and have high blood pressure. I take Toprol XL everyday.
