  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I stopped by my fav brewery today, Troegs, in Harrisburg. They happened to have one of my fav brews they make there. Nugget Nectar is there imperial amber IPA. It's a fantastic beer with great hop flavor however this stuff was brewed in Jan or Feb and now in April almost May the hops have died down a bit. It's good but not as good and hoppy as it is fresh. The bartender told me "a few kegs turned up" so left overs were being offered basically haha.

So moral of story is if you like IPAs get them fresh and drink them fresh. They're like groceries if you ask me. Leaving them sit only asks for disappointment.

Yep...Even Pliny says right on the bottle to not try and age this beer, it doesn't and is best enjoyed fresh. I'm good with drinking quickly. :)

I've come to realize unless you can ensure you're getting good fresh beer (ie dated bottles) then and you love IPAs then homebrewing is definitely for you. How much more fresh can you get? I have a DIPA dryhopping right now with citra leaf and cascade pellets.
