Anyone else on some marathon shit with horror movies during October? I'm a horror movie nerd anyway, but this time of year it just becomes a nightly thing. Off work today, and I watched Piranha 3-D this morning, which was ridiculous, and honestly not great. Sure, over the top nudity, humor, and silliness (and a great cameo from Richard Dreyfuss with a great little nod to Jaws), but really it was way too formulaic. Watching the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street right now (2010), and it actually isn't bad. Certainly not on the same level of BS as most remakes... It actually seems to have respect for the original, which is no surprise, given the positive attitude both Wes Craven and Robert Englund have towards it. Jackie Earle Haley is also a worthy successor, and puts his own, darker twist on the wisecracking Krueger. Now, that said, it has nothing on the original, and is still a remake... And a by the numbers slasher flick.

Doc, that's a nice list. If I was to add to it Rosemary's Baby and Maniac (1980)would be on the list as well. Nothing scarier than Satanic old people or a Psycho killer played by Joe Spinell who was in both Godfather 1 and 2. Adding a few more slasher films will IMO round out your list nicely.
