This is the company that I've had my eyes on for awhile now.

The 47mm green faced Runwell with date really trips my trigger for some reason. Would love one of these but can't bring myself to spend the dough.

The black face is almost exactly what I had in mind... but my grandmother's expression that involved "shinola" keeps ringing in my brain.
That's part of what I love about it.

Looks awesome....made in Detroit AND....I can definitely distinguish it from sh*t!
Made in Detroit is a big deal

I'd suggest looking at Oris Watch Company. Great looking Swiss watches in your price range. You can also usually find a good one 2nd hand on Timezone. If you shop around you should be able to get them 1/3 off of list. I have an older TT1 Diver and it's a beauty that gets lots of looks and questions. www.oris.ch
Mine looks like this one but with a glossy black face.

Tag makes some nice watches as well that are worthy to consider. Stay away from their quartz watches though as they are overpriced.

Don't be afraid to buy online from a reputable dealer or to purchase out of state over the phone to avoid expensive taxes.

Good luck. Watch hunting can be a lot of fun, but also a bit addictive as well.

He'll probably be too good to even talk to us in a couple months though... :tonguerol

Says the bawler who smoked CC exclusively...
I think I read somewhere he lowered his standards and smoked a Tat once... :smoke:

Sean, I'm a guy who wears a $45 Kenneth Cole to work and a $19 Timex on the weekend, and the most expensive watch I've ever owned was a $60 Fossil from my grandma when I graduated high school, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I would recommend looking at two watches, one for formal wear with a leather strap, and a metal band for everyday wear.

Something like this looks good with a suit or with a polo and slacks:
http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-BL8000-54L-Eco-Drive-Perpetual-Calendar/dp/B00074HDAO/ref=sr_1_24?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1402506177&sr=1-24&keywords=eco+drive

And then something like this for more formal occasions:
http://www.amazon.com/Tissot-Watches-Classic-Automatic-Transparent/dp/B000JKSS8M/ref=sr_1_6?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1402506506&sr=1-6&keywords=tissot

Neither of those is likely to impress anyone with their cost, but that's not likely to happen no matter what you buy, unless you spend huge money, and making an impression with your watch ain't worth that kinda cost. Just my two cents. Then again, I'm a branch manager, not a VP... we lowly folk inhabit a different world than you bigwigs! ;)

Stogieninja you have good taste brother. That is my exact watch I wrote about in my post earlier in this thread! I've been wearing it daily for 10 years now.

Hey brother, I've had good luck with my Timex Weekender with a custom leather band from form:function:form, found on this page under "Button Stud Weekender":
http://formfunctionform.com/product-category/watchband-watch-pairings/
It may be a little casual for your gig, but my job is also more casual then some. The leather is extremely comfortable, and the Weekender is a cheap reliable watch. For all in around $150, you can't beat it, IMO.

However, I've also always been fascinated with this company and these watches:

http://www.tsovet.com/shop/all/

Cool, vintage-looking watches, but still can be worn formal. Never owned one though, so can't really attest to Tsovet.

A final stop worth making as well is www.huckberry.com. It's a website that has flash sales on guys stuff; usually artisan, American-made goods. Their prices aren't usually super marked down, but their customer service is great. Requires a signup, but they update their sales weekly, and feature some really cool stuff. Worth checking out. Good luck on the watch search and congrats on the job, my friend!

If you're a Costco member, make sure to check what they have... I just looked at my local today and they had some nice watches ranging up to $6,500, and that's with nice discounts. I'm not sure what kind of warranty they have with jewelry, but Costco generally has nice warranties.

I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong in life lol. I don't even drive a car worth some of these watches :p (not taking away from you though, it's awesome that you have a career that is worthy of nice stuff!)

I have a low end citizen eco drive that my wife bought me years ago... It's been around the world, blown up (not near a mailbox lol), & beat on... Still looks nice & keeps on ticking!

From the Boss:

Check out Raymond Weil, old watch brand Swiss made. They have a good line
several sizes and shapes. Stylish but classy. I would suggest a two tone, the gold accents
hint at wealth without being ostentatious. You should be able to get one that looks nice in the
1,000-2500.00 range. This is a great time to do it Father's Day specials should be
available. Macys and Bloomingdales have this line.

You can check Tag Heuer but they tend to be very sporty. Price point may be a bit high.

You can look at Movado if you lean toward the modern. It may not be the most reliable watch.
( owned by Tag)

Stay away from rubber straps and Chronographs!

Congratulations.

As much as I want to, I just can't seem to pull the trigger on a nice watch. I drool over and envy them but just can't do it. My wife has a beautiful Rolex that she's had for years. It stopped working a while back and was going to cost a butt-ton to fix, more that a lot of watches cost new.

I've gone the other direction and have been sporting one of the cheapest watches you can buy. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Maybe when this one dies I'll upgrade a bit

I have a TAG link and a formula one. I wear the Link for business and the Formula One for casual.
