House Explosion

Check out these pictures of a house that exploded in my neighborhood on Friday night. The house is not even 100 yards from my front door. Luckily the duplex was not occupied and nobody was injured. Just a loud BOOM and a lot of mess to clean up. There was insulation thrown over 3 blocks away.

In my experience this is a gas fed fuel source and hit an ignition source like a gas hot water heater when it kicked on, them BOOM. Only thing is usually there is a fireball and the house burns some. Looked like this fireball blew itself out. Glad no one was hurt.

Looks like Steve was right

A Citizen's Cas representative told 6News that investigators determined that a valve to a gas fireplace was open in the house. They did not find any leaks outside of the home.

Wow. That would also explain the lack of fire damage. Incredible! I'm glad no one was hurt.
