I have a relatively new (like a month old) NewAir 280, and when set at 66* my two thermometers inside read about 73-74*. My air conditioning has been out and the room gets up to maybe 80*, and I thought maybe the unit is not designed to bridge that large a temperature gap. Maybe it will only hold displayed temperature if it is in basically, a temperature-controlled environment, like an air conditioned home. Basically it is running 8-10* hotter than the setting.

How accurate do yours units run?

Yeah, the units really are only good for about a 10* differential. Anything more than that and they not only struggle to keep up, you end up with some condensation issues.
