with this new chest type humi im getting, the dimensions are: 15L x 10.75W x 14.75 H. giving me a grand total of 2378.4375".... how many beads should i get to regulate RH??? 1/2 lb????? or will a 4oz tube keep me reasonable???
That is just about 1 and 1/3 cubic foot. Read what heartfelt says is best for that amout of space. That size you should also get an Oust fan t gently stir the RH as well. Good luck and congrats bro.
ok i need about .275 lbs of beads. so 4oz is .250 lbs.... theres not that much difference betweeen the 2. would 1/4 lbs be enough???? or should i go with a 1/2 lb????? i no that more could not hurt....
The more beads the better Matt, less RH swings and less adding distilled water in your dry months. Go for a full pound if think will save you money down the road and just use 1/2 pound for this humi.
thanks steve. so the tubes come in the biggest size of 4oz. if i buy a half pound bulk or even 1lb for future use, what would be the best way to use them in the humi??? buy smaller tubes and place them in various locations in the humi?? or just in a big dish??
Heartfelt sells a sock think that is really a bird/finch feeder. I also use cheap nylon panty hose that I find works even better and keep in a small cedar container that was originally for a Cigar Oasis. I would skip the tube and steal your womans older pair of clean hose, go for at least 1/2 lb of beads for this humi. :rofl?
dont think she has a pair of hose that small...... LOL!!!
would a small, shallow dish work just as well??? there is a cedar tray in the very top of the humi, and the rest is just for box space. a shallow, long, wide container with the oust fan work???
That should do the trick Matt. Just check in various spots with a calibrated hygrometer to see that the RH is distributed enough. You should be fine.
Re the hose; the idea is add beads like a sausage link and twist them off in smalish amounts to fit your needs. Anything to avoid direct contact with the humi is probably good.
Other BOTL vendors have beads now too, I forgot about that.
I use 1lb of beads for my Humi about the same size. Got two "Sacks" from Heartfelt for them. Rh is holding great. One at each end of the Humi and an Oust fan at the bottom.  :applause: eace:
I have to say I'm not happy with the oust fans. I have two of them in my wine cooler. I actually put a cpu fan in instead. Now she's holding humidity really nice. but maybe for a large desktop it will work nicely.
The Heartfelt sacks are great. A little stronger than hose. I have two Oust fans in each of my 100 quart coolers and they work great. A soft breeze just to move the air. I change the battery every three months. Bought a big pack from Costco.
