  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

How much rubbing is enough?

I have only been smoking the pipe for a few month and have a question: How much rubbing do you put into rubbing out flake tobacco?

Any feeback or links would be greatly appericiated!

Thanks

if you can get and keep it lit, it works?

seriously, from careful folding to hapazard stuffing, some don't even break it down a little. then there is the cube cut crowd, cutting flake and cake down into smaller segments. finally, rubbing it out can be just slightly fluffed or all the way to ribbon, or anything in between.

take one you like, and try several approaches consecutively. see if it makes a difference.

+1 to JJ's comments...

There's really no "right" choice... It's whatever works for you, in your particular pipe, with your particular tobacco..

For me, I normally rub out flake and cake only to about a "medium" degree.. I don't just fold and stuff... But by the same token, I don't try to get it super fine either.. Most flakes and cakes I want just broken down enough to get a nice firm pack when using the "frank" method... And that's it..
