1) You get a Coleman 24 can Stacker off the innerwebz. Mine cost me 12 bucks. The price appears to have gone up.

2) You get a faux tupperware tray, like two inches deep, ten across, fifteen long. Set that in the bottom of the stacker and pour water in it.

3) You score a BBQ grill or some such rack. Mine is a rack I snitched from the midget Haier dorm sized fridge I keep beer in, out in the garage. Set that inside the stacker & atop the tray. The tray is just there to hold the rack up out of the water.

4) Set your leaf on the rack:

5) Shut the lid & wait. Your baccy will dampen nicely without any leaf-spottin' spritzin' at all.

This is super handy for your shade leaf, which has a tendency to spot and weaken if you wet it. This is how I recommend you treat your wrapper wads, for instance. I never spritz wrapper of any sort any more. This works great.

Do you use the technique for wrapper only? How long do you leave the leaf in its cold sauna?

For the most part. Rarely need to dampen binder. Virtually never need to dampen filler.

How long depends on the leaf, right? How dry did it start out? How damp do you need it? CT shade is so delicate it soaks damp right up. A day, half day might do. Thicker wraps might take twice as long. Also depends what shape you are rolling. Fectos require a lot of flexibility. Parejos are a snap.

You'll know when it's ready.

How do you ensure the inner leaves get the same moisture as those on the perimeter?

(Sorry to be a pest, but I think I often spend more time prepping leaf than rolling.)

Do the edges relax and unfurl themselves?
Well, sure; to a certain extent.
I do, however, tickle them out once they are relaxed, remove the midrib, then tickle them out again & let 'em set some more.

Truthfully, Ras, I am no kinda sedulous sotweed specialist with a set strategy. Far from it. I have neither the expertise of MarcL nor the artistry of Bliss. Can't even tango. All's I got is common sense.

Hell, I don't even buy distilled water.

So it's useless to ask me about detail. I just fumble along looking for what works in the moment.

Know what? 93% humidibiddity here this morning. Predicted to decline to a dessicated 63% by this afternoon. Then back up to 96% by bed time. Screw the tub. I'm setting my wrapper leaf out on the porch.

Good day to be a fern.
