  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Grand idea but I am afraid the title to the thread is going to be "How I riuned three beautiful cigars". As said before, tobacco is pliable when rolled. After it has been rolled and aged awhile it gets stiff. To re-hydrate the leaves will have to swell and will burst the binder and wrapper before they become pliable enough to twist.

I think wade would be the one to ask on this one. They do the same thing with wood in wood working. It obviously has to have a good amount of moisture and a VERY SLOW multi-phased bending process....just a tiny bit at a time

Wood does not have multiple thin layers that start out soft and pliable. Wood does not absorb moisture as quickly as tobacco. You can steam wood and gently bend it to shape. If you steam tobacco the inner layers will absorb and burst the wrapper. Think of bending wood with the bark still on it. The wood will bend but the bark will break in the bending process. Now if you take a green sapling and bend it to shape and then let it dry into shape it works great. Take a dried stick and try and do the same, crack and split.
