  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Bubble wrap and strapping tape around the bottles and then a layer or two of bubble wrap on the bottom & top of the box and other filler (crumbled paper mostly) as needed. I use UPS and when they ask me what it is I tell them I'm shipping small batch Olive Oil.

I second what cliff says. Those shippers are awesome and they go a long ways, usually will outlast the box.

Roll the bottles in small bubble wrap then place into plastic bags wrung tight and taped down. 3" triple tape bottom seams and H pattern to finish outside bottom box. lay double layer of large bubble wrap inside bottom of box on then add cardboard sheet atop large bubble for even weight distribution. keep bottles up or a lean a max of 45 degrees if you must (bombers). fill voids with air pillows or large Bubble wrap until very snug. double tape top shut and tape ends on sides across to secure. Use up Arrows labels on sides and a nice Fragile label on top to finish. or use U-Haul shippers which are nice.

Thanks !

Cliff knows what's up. Highly suggest no matter what route place each bottle in a 1 gal ziploc. Ship enough and you will have one break. Ziploc helps a lot and keeps package from being seized. And don't use spray foam...shippers will work great and even just wrap works very well. No need to go to that level.

oh, and there are some places, or states, where shipping any liquid, much less booze is a No-No. so, you might not want to mention what you're shipping. just to err on the side of caution.

I ship qts of liquid all the time qrt jars at that just wrap well with bubble wrap and then use Styrofoam peanuts packed rather tight. But all jars are sealed with tape at lids and freezer style zip locks and taped before bubble wrap then I tape bubble wrap well. It may be extreme but works well. And I ship southern redneck salsa all the time no problems;)

to ship bottles: a sturdy box, ample space between the box edges and the contents, and ample filler to absorb any shock as well as keep the contents from moving or contacting each other.

Lol while I appreciate the mission impossible-ness of spray foam etc... Bubble wrap around the bottle, balled up news paper, and a shoebox (size 12/13) worked fine through usps. Now that was bombers and 12oz beer not a bottle of Stagg but they arrived fine.

I have two b@mbs to send out:
1) several bottles of beer for a BOTL member (he already knows)
2) one 1.75L of bourbon as a surprise

I was thinking of the spray foam for the large format bottle just of the pain in the ass to get it out of the block, but the suggestions here sound good.

Wouldn't it be funny if the recipient was here telling me how to send it? :)

Thanks, Rene'
