  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Reading the "What's in your bowl today" thread the subject of HU tobacco came up (Hu-tobacco.de). I had never heard of this tobacco until now and it's now on my list to try. While HTF sticks seem to be the norm in the cigar smoking world, there are only a few that come to my mind when piping. What's on your list that you would eventually like to get your hands on? The few I can think of that I hope to try some day are Tambolaka (preferably in rope form), German Made Strang, and of course those Esoterica blends that get so much hype.

Boutique pipe tobacco is out there, but they don't do the same kind of advertising the cigar guys do from what I've seen.

IMHO strang is worth the chase. But I think the same of the Esoterica blends I've had the opportunity to smoke. Doesn't mean that there isn't great stuff available for less money and investment of time, but I look at it like I do cigars. If I want to have the experience, I can justify the money. I wouldn't smoke it all every day, but I can jar it and enjoy it over a longer period of time than I can with a rare cigar I paid 20-40 bucks for... YMMV.

As for what I'm chasing, the HU blends are what I'm after. And an OG tin of three nuns original blend. I'd like some pelican as well. Gotten close to snagging a tin a few times but there was always something else I wanted more.

Russ622 just blended up an English for his shop called Cyclops I want to try also... Ha ha.

This entire thread is dangerous. What happened to the Strang group buy? I totally forgot about it...
Still interested.
I think it might have fizzled when we found out he wouldn't ship bulk to the US, or give bulk discount anyway...
I'm still in though!
Me too even without discount
Me three!

I dropped hope when I sent him three emails after my initial contact and he didn't respond. It's at the top of my list as its right in my wheelhouse but I don't know what yo do...

For me HU tobacco makes the list. Aged penzance or stonehaven. If you like esoterica blends smokershaven.com imported house blends are blended by JF Germain & son. IMO they are just as good, especially exotique. Steven Books is a blender who makes wonderful blends, just hard to get a hold off. His Irishman's 5 o'clock is the best balkan blend I've ever tried. Heard wonderful things about strang, just never tried it yet.
