  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I need a new ashtray. What's a good one?

My main one is a nice green marble cut out. I also have a larger ceramic round Romeo Julita one for a larger crowd.

I use a piston out of One of my old Subaru engines I had sitting around. However I would like to get one of the CAO Cubist Ash trays cuz I think they look sweet...!

While I want a Stinky. i picked up a old ugly army green ash tray by Hall from the 50's on eBay and use that primarily. On our recent trip up to the cabin, I just made one out of an empty #10 can of crushed roma tomatoes. It was rustic but it worked and was cheap too <g>.

Stinky.

I have two for out by the pool. Great ash tray with capacity for large parties too! Being that deep also helps keep the ash in the ash tray during windy days...another plus for the big Stinky.

One thing to keep in mind with the CAO Cubist, is that as your cigar gets smaller, to have the ash over the center, you will most likely have the rest of your cigar sitting on the ashtray rest, making it difficult to get your cigar off the ashtray. Looks cool, hell yeah, good design, I'm thinking not.

Hey Stew, I will take an extra Subaru piston, mine are still functioning in my WRX.

I used to have a piston ash tray, but gave it away to a friend that liked it.

Has anyone had any of their "leafs" (the metal pieces that hold the cigar) break off at the weld? I have had 2 snap off this year!
I've had a couple break off, but then again I got three Stinkys, JB Weld holds them back on good. Just scuff up the stainless a bit for better bite.

Are the stinkys stainless or are they chrome plated?

I saw one on Craigslist (new) for ten bux... but the dude insisted it was chrome plated... and that it was a Stinky.

This guy not know what he has?

My mom had an ashtray like that years ago when it was commonplace to have ashtrays for your guests even if you didn't smoke. Never told us it was from a stoplight, though.
