  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I need this shirt...

Very cool, Surely you can get this diamond crown image in hi res form a google image search, then get it printed on a T! Just a thought...
Just a bit of copyright infringement...
I'm no lawyer, but I think you're clear if it's for personal use and you don't profit from it in any way... No?
Exactly! And I am a screen printer, so I have experienced this situation and provided these services ;)

I'm not ok with copyright infringement either, but I have reprinted people's old shirts or shirts that the were not able to get anywhere. I printed one-offs for them since I was sure they weren't about to go selling it.

That's the ONLY thing I miss about working at the print shop. I had some pretty cool tees.

Sorry didn't mean to come off grouchy or anything but I just got done dealing with a group of people that felt it cool to google "cool" VW images and print them and yes sell them to one another, turn them into stickers to sell....

But I guess the thought comes into mind, no the receiver of the shirt isn't profiting from it, but most screen printing places aren't going to print you the shirt for free either. So in essence they are making money on it. I know that having the company find out that you printed one shirt for someone is far stretched and you would receive a cease and desist letter would be proper protocol before anything happened.

Its a subject I am pretty weird on and people say that they are just showing their love for said company. Well then buy products from them to support them, or make a rad shirt from puffy paint....

This will conclude my bah humbug moment!

There is something called "Fair Use" (legal term/ action I am intimately familiar with)

http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html

If a phrase, passage, musical composition, logo etc (and more) is known throughout a specific part of the world and is not used to profit from (directly or through the advancement of your business by using such copy written/ trademarked materials) then there may be little legal recourse for the originator/ creator of those works. There are MANY MANY ways to sue someone even when "Fair Use" is argued.

Whether or not you are using someone else's creation, handwork, gift of art, talent etc to make something you want to wear or have in your living room, etc is an issue that will have many people opining. Some of these opinions and comments won't be what you want to hear.
