  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I think I am bored with cigars???!

Take up golf. That will slow you down and your cigar smoking down plus exercise and sun. Wow.

"I need to entertain myself wit more than just cigars. I usually sit outside or in my garage so there is nothing keeping me busy but my cigar. .... My smoking will have to be saved for the parties."

You have to remember kids from the tech generation get bored more easily (i am only 26 and can semi relate). They are bombarded with multitasking from their first memories, and when they are not doing multiple things they get bored and lose attention easily.

He is 18, and smoking cigars just at parties probably means he has the wrong mind set. I personally don't think 18 year old's should smoke cigars because they shouldn't have hours of free time, they should be out living it up. Enjoy being 18 and go out and do everything you can. Sometimes I feel like at 26 I shouldn't be taking hours and hours out of my week smoking cigars. I am afraid I will look back and feel like I wasted my dwindling youth. So to you my friend I say come back to cigars when you are in your mid-twenties and life has slowed down a little. Then I think you will enjoy them much more!! :pimp1:
Nice observation. I decided not to give up cigars but I just don't do it as often. I did pick up a pipe and some pipe tobacco. So far I like it better but I just need to save the smoking for relaxing, socializing, or doing while doing something else. I can not sit in a box with nothing but a cigar like master shake said I should be living it up.

As for my parents I do wish to tell them. I think I will experiment a little more with pipe smoking and then I will ask if it is still against the rules now that I am 18. If they say I can't then I will have to give it up until I move out. If they say yes, well I doubt it. I expect my dad will say no but my mom might say don't do it, but probably will do nothing if I do.

I like the patient bear picture. And no I don't eat willy wonka. HAHA! But I do like chocolate chip cookies.

So what ever happened? (And how could your parents not know, if you smoke in the garage?) It sounds like you're looking for an adult activity that you enjoy, and tried cigars and pipes for that reason. Seems reasonable, it's a while since I was 18 but probably did the same. May be a better idea to do parent-acceptable activities while you're still at home. Good luck in making the decision, whatever it turns out to be. And let us know what happens.

my neighbor is the same way...a little order than you...okay...22 years older...but the man cannot relax! a little too hyper at times. I give him party shorts...great stick and does not take a lot of time to smoke. he will nub them every time! if I give him anything else...it is a 1/4 done dead soldier sacrificed into the bon fire...kills me every time...but he is still a good guy;)

Switching to a pipe will "not" be the answer, you "hotbox" a pipe and you will literally be breathing fire!
Larry is absolutely right about the pipe thing. It took me several months to start tasting the difference in the cigars I was smoking. I am still developing. It takes time and focusing on the cigar. Check the reviews on your smokes then focus and see if you taste the same things. When you get there, you will really start enjoying cigars:innocent:

28 year old here, so not far from you master shake, and the best advice i've ever gotten on the subject was from an 86 year old woman.

'be eccentric while you're young'

each and every one of us can afford to sit back for an hour a day and actually enjoy ourselves. if you don't, life goes by in a blur.

Howdy:

How about short cigars? I am still new hear and have not tried them yet but the Petite Tatuaje seems to get reviews and you could smoke it slowly yet quickly and get on to other things. I am thinking this may become my winter smoke, just need to try it first.

Best regards, tony
