  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Pick that up in Astan?

Fakie dunhills and petersons are available in the bazzars in both Iraq and Astan.. most of them are carved in China and imported in...

I picked up on of the Fakies in Iraq in 2004 just to give me something to smoke while I was there.. In all honestly, it wasnt a bad pipe... it burned a little hot.. but other than that.. it got the job done... and was worth the $20 or so I paid for it at the Haji Shop.. (he originally asked for about $50 for it I think..)...

yours looks almost identical to the one I picked up.. except mine had a high shine on it and had been stained an almost orange/red color.. (same wood grain and bowl shape from what I can tell...)...

Based the photo it looks like it has a lot of pits in the briar. I think it's pretty safe to say that Dunhill would never let a pipe out of their factory like that. If you can, check it with a pipe cleaner. If it will pass from the stem to the bowl it will probably smoke just fine. I've got a few no name pipes that smoke better than some of my high dollar ones. Just don't pay premium pricing for it. Like Dave said, if you can get it for $20, it might not be bad to have just for something to smoke out of.
