If you could start over again, where would you start?

So I have had a few CCs - ERDM Choix Suprema, a couple of Partagas (none that I remember specifically), a Juan Lopez #2, and a Montecristo corona - clearly not an experienced CC smoker, but I am looking to remedy that, especially since the LCDH in Tijuana is ~30 minutes away from my doorstep.

So where should I start? Where would you start if you could reintroduce yourself to CCs - if you could get in that phonebooth with George Carlin and go back to where your journey began, what would your future-self tell your former-self? (If it helps, I like spicey, leathery, and earthy flavors.)

Those have flavor profiles right up your alley. I would say get some Bolivar Petit Coronas and Royal Coronas and on the Partagas side get some PSD4s and 898s.

Couldn't agree more with the Partagas. PSD4s are always great, imho. I've nt gone wrong with anything from them. Further, a few of the staple No. 2s, Monty, Uppman.

You're correct, some were junk. But others were gems for the price.
