Illusione ECCJ...wowzers

This was another B-day gift from Uncelino. What a nice looking stick, had a nice golden brown wrapper, no real veins. After I cut it and made my first draw, you could immediately taste floral notes....very sweet. I did have some initial wrapper problem, but toward the 1/3rd mark it was fine. By that point, nuts were present, along with sweet honey. I had no problems with the burn or draw...lots of yummy smoke coupled with a secure ash. Toward the 2/3rd mark, it became very powerful, which I was not expecting. Thank goodness this was a larger cigar (so I could put it down to get my bearings). Directly afterwords, the rosy floral taste returned and was there to stay. I really should have saved this cigar for a special occasion since I probably won't have the opportunity to smoke one again.

Although I love the Epernay line, the ECCJ just doesn't do it for me. I traded 2 boxes away that I didn't want.

I love most Illusione stuff and I really like the new MJ12. The ECCJ and the ~2~ are my least favorites.

As much as I love the ECCJ I think that the Epernay line is stronger....that's just me!

Nah, you did the right thing to smoke it. Invariably, the cigars I save for special occasions wind up plugged, or just don't perform to the special occasion!

Give 'em time. The eccj's were the same way. They'll mello to the desired effect.

I received a pair of ECCJ from a BOTL, but have hesitated smoking them because of the irreplaceable nature of the stick. But how does it compare to the Eperany? People have commented that they are better or not as good, but I guess I'm looking for specifics (less nicotine, not as sweet, more complex, etc.).

I've only had 3 Dion sticks so far but I'm already becoming a huge fan...amazing stuff!

lol, I just got one in a trade, actually, but that's my only one. There is a local here that sells a few Illusiones, but not Eperany (or Cruzado). I just wish that these sticks could be found on sales or specials or something...I've only seen them for retail, or near enough.

Nice review Adam. I too REALLY enjoyed the one eccj I've had. I've also had one epernay and while it was also good, I did not like it as much as the eccj. Perhaps it just needed some age as Dion suggests. If you find and want to do a split on on some eccj let me know!
