  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Im sorry Pete!

Guys, These cigars I sent with Dan's help are not meant to be aged. They are to be smoked to give you all a first look of how the tobacco is coming along. The cigars you will age will be the ones when they are released. These cigars were made from 9 month old tobacco. We didn't start production for another 3+ months. Your tasting a barrel sample. You are only tasting not getting a bottle. No winery would ever bottle a barrel sample for multiple consumers to taste until it was absolutely ready to drink.

Be a critic, taste all the flavors(not just strength levels) and smell the aromas. Look at all parts of the cigar and judge it like Robert Parker or James Suckling would rate a sample of wine one year before it is released. Judge it for what it could be not for what it is. Have Fun....

Wouldn't you like to know?
I think the prblem is that this was quite a departure from what most of expect out a cigar from Pete. The flavours were to me a little more subtle then normal. It wasn't my favorite cigar from Pete, but I never judge a cigar from just one. I think it had great potential and a fuller bodied version should be great. I look forward to trying the full release product.

Pete hasn't steered me wrong with a smoke yet.

So when do the next "swag packs" go out? I think it would be a phenomenal opportunity to taste one of these prior to it reaching its full potential and to compare the changes once it is released. You all got a unique opportunity to experience how educated and talented Pete has to be in order to take a blend that may not be exceptional and still know that it will reach its potential with time. That is an ability that I wish I had. Keep it up Pete, I have yet to smoke something you made that I did not like.

from what ive heard this is a very experimental cigar... not sure about the details but as i understand the approach to making la verite is dramatically different than the norm.

anytime you push the envelope you're taking a huge risk... the outcome is uncertain. but the rewards could be much greater. i personally havent' tried the verite but i commend pete for taking a risk.

im very intersted to try one when they are finally released.

I have like most others a 10 or so boxes of my mans smokes in my humi. Which I think qualifies me a BOTL Tatwhore. He with out a doubt is my favorite cigar maker. I thought he would of appreciated the honesty, and also thank him for the opportunity and experience. So thats what i did. 13 doesnt sound so bad for this smoke as to the numbers like 18 and 25 out of the new cigar insider.
Sorry for the honesty.
Justin

Too cheap for the skipper! LOL
Not enough spice for me... and too one dimensional...
don't get me wrong... it's a great cigar....but I am spoiled by the miami line...:cbig:

I got lots of cigars at the Havana line price point...ambos mundos, AF Sungrown, padrons..... but for some reason.. that line doesn't trip my trigger.:dunno:
