how should I rank these in case I win a chance to buy one at retail?

Pappy Van Winkle 23yr $520
Pappy Van Winkle 20yr $350
Pappy Van Winkle 15yr $220
Van Winkle Family Reserve 13 yr Rye $200
Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 yr bourbon $145
Old Rip Van Winkle 10 yr $130
Eagle Rare 17 yr Bourbon $155
Sazerac 18yr Rye $155
George T Stagg Bourbon $160
Thomas H Handy $155
William Laure Weller Bourbon $150

I'd be hard pressed to pass on the PVW 23 and 20 just for possible "trade value"

any suggestions on how to rank them in order of preference? never done this type of lottery before

Thanks

Obviously all sought after stuff, not really a “good and bad” situation. Just my crap opinion putting them into tiers (1-4). With the disclaimer that I’ve had less and less over the years due to availability and price increases. (So if bactches have gotten better or worse it would be with a grain of salt) Last bottle of 12 year lot b I bought was 45$ :ROFLMAO:

1. Pappy Van Winkle 23yr $520
2. Pappy Van Winkle 20yr $350
3.Pappy Van Winkle 15yr $220
4.Van Winkle Family Reserve 13 yr Rye $200
4.Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 yr bourbon $145
4.Old Rip Van Winkle 10 yr $130
1. Eagle Rare 17 yr Bourbon $155
4. Sazerac 18yr Rye $155
1. George T Stagg Bourbon $160
2. Thomas H Handy $155
2. William Laure Weller Bourbon $150

Yea they are all unicorns to me also.

@CigarGavin would you drink the old pappys or use them to restock your cabinet with a lot of other stuff?
If I actually got bottles of 20/23 of course I would trade for cars instead. I might drink the 13/15 but if someone offered a stupid amount of items for trade I would pack them up quicker than you could say “aren’t you gonna try them?”

its tough to say without having them

Depends on your palate, I am more a fan of the higher proof BTAC than I am of most of the Pappy.

This year's George T Stagg is getting RAVE reviews. Good reviews for the WLW as well.

For my palate, my Top 3 would be GTS, WRW and Pappy 23 Year (just because its flavors are so unique). I'd put the rest of the BTAC and the Pappy 20 year next, and the Saz and rest of the Winkles in the bottom. Any way you slice it, if you win the lottery you're going to get a great bottle at a steal compared to secondary.
