So I think I am picking up a 60 gig on Friday.

Anyone get any warranty plans?

I have the 4G Nano and no warranty. did I screw up?

the fact that you can't replace a battery in it yourself made me nervous so I got the extended...batteries are just too iffy IMHO

I bought my Ipod at best buy, and got the warranty from them. I have exchanged the orignal 4gb, to a 6 gb. I also exchanged the 6gb for another one, when the battery stopped holding a charge.

My sister bought her creative zen from them, and about every 3 months changes to a different one, she manages to break every single MP3 player she owns in about 3 months time. She then just walks over to the best buy by the office, and changes for a different one or a newer version of the one she has. On exchanges she just pays the difference, and the new warranty.

I have done the same thing with my Zen...it isn't ever really inoperable but I find something.

Four years ago I bought a 5gig one, I think, and now I have a 20 or 30 gigger for no extra money.

How much are you folks paying for extended warranties on these that allows "upgrades" every few months?

$49...but it doesn't allow "upgrades"...it is a replacement warranty as opposed to a repair warranty.

I paid $349 four years ago and have gotten a new one just bout every year since.

there has to be something wrong with the first one in order to upgrade, or replace. Its more of a replacement warranty than an upgrade warranty. both of the ipods I have returned have had bad batterys, and the 6gb was going for the same price that I had gotten the 4gb, so I just upgraded. Make sure to ask questions regarding what it will and it wont cover, and for them to point it out on the paper you are given. If its not in writing, it probadly is not covered.

Yep, also it is replacement value...that is how we were able to "upgrade".

Get the applecare! If anything breaks thats not your own fault they swap it out right at the apple store with a brand new one.
Unless you like dealing with those other electronics chains then you can get whatever they offer.

Buy it with a Platinum card to get an extra year of warranty.
There are places online that will swap out a battery for around $50-$70 an occurance, without having to buy an extra warranty.
Or you can replace it yourself for around $20.

The newer ones probably won't have as much of a problem as the ones a lot of people had trouble with.

I plan on getting a new nano once they upgrade them to something like 16 or 32GB. It has no moving parts inside it so you don't have to worry about if you do running or anything, and the size is great. I wasn't really interested in the other iPods till they came out with a nice flash based one.

I got a 2GB Nano with the applecare warranty. If I get a warranty I never need it. If I don't get it, I always need it.
