Or any other libation for that matter if I work the night shift and get off at 730 AM? I work 9 pm to 730 am, but it still feels weird to have a drink when the sun is just coming up even if it is my evening per se.

I worked night shift for about a year and all I could think of when I went home was a nice comfortable bed. The bit of sleep aid you're taking may help with the noise, errant light, visitors and anything else that will, without fail, disturb you so I highly recommend you take your medicine!!
The expert whisky tasters I have met recommend doing tastings early in the AM 9:30 - 11:00. Seems your palate is better in the morning. So if anyone gives you grief about it just tell them your a professional!

I too work at a local hospital as a nursing assistant. And do the 12 hour 8p-8a. I love the 12 hours/3 nights a week sometimes 4 nights if I’m working my weekend.
Although my hospital was purchased by a big healthcare company so they’ve had staff go to 8 hours. I’m one of a few left that didn’t jump ship yet while my co workers all panicked.

I'm a third shifter and work 5 to 6 nights a week 50 to 70 hour work weeks and nothing beats a cigar or pipe after the kids are off to school and the house is empty than a pipe or cigar and a good drink.
Bourbon or rum or even a good cheap wine. Neighbors know I work nights so they ignore me mostly. I might pee on their leg if they didnt. Or moon then. Hump their leg like a puppy. I'm 45. Its allowed. Some of the best conversations I ever had were during summertime when outside doing this. Im even funnier when drinking.
