I truly believe it is correlated to advertising. All I really want to do is read the list, I just don't have the magazine at hand.

What a shitty list.

Thanks for posting that though. Confirms my forumla.

Money spent on Advertising is directly proportional to the placing on your cigar on the list.

I like Cigar Magazine. Just started about a year ago. Useful information for smokers that aren't billionaires. Great magazine. http://www.cigar-magazine.com/

By the way...my subscription to Cigar Aficionado.com is running out. All I have to say, at least for the online version, is I just don't like it. It just seems like a useless magazine that they need celebrities on the cover to sell it to you. "Joe Pesci smokes!? Boughten."

By the way...is that colibri lighter that you get with a subscription any good?

CA is overrated big time imo. That's not just because they put a Macanudo and an expensive CAO (HBO license anyone?) on their top 25. They just don't do it for me. I'd rather come online and look at ratings from fellow BOTL's for free anyday.

I agree about CM. Really a good "cigar" magazine. They have a section on pipes also. Smoke Magazine is ok also, but imho Cigar Magazine is the better choice.

Same for me...I'd rather get reviews from the BOTL's I know and trust.

They did a better job at hiding thier motives last year.

I guess they were looking at not using the same cigars twice but how many years can you run a top 25 without running out of great cigars?

I would like to see a top 5 with really good write-ups containing reviews, interviews and information regarding the 5. Would be something to look forward to every year but this sucks.

That would be nice. Review with the owners of whatever cigar company made them, some photos of the farm/factory...

My guess on a list like this in any magazine is that the top 10 are pretty honest. If a good advertiser didn't make the top 10 then they got something placed in the next 15.

Remember too that this is a top 25 for one year, not an all-time list. CA is probably mostly sold in the US so cuban cigars can't have the majority of smokes on the list. The top 10 are pretty darn good smokes on most lists even though they may not be all of our personal favorites.

It should not be about advertising at all. That is why I don't appreciate the list, or the magazine.
