  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So, I had my tonsils out on Wednesday, as some of you know, and I am chomping at the bit to smoke again. I know I can't for at least awhile, but I'm wondering what the brothers think I should do when I get back into it. Seeing as how it will be a few weeks, I can't dive right into the deep end, and smoke an Opus, etc. But, everything is pretty much at my disposal at my B&M. The guys at the shop suggested that I try something that I may have dismissed long ago, and see how my palate takes it now, with the obvious change in architecture going on in my mouth. I definitely like full-flavor, and medium to full bodied smokes, and I've pretty much dismissed RyJ, Torano, Macanudo and Punch. I'm a fan of anything Fuente, Ashton, Pete's and Don Pepin's, Dion's, and CAO. What do you think I should do? Go back to the old favorites, or see if my palate has changed toward what I considered "mediocre" smokes?

AAAAA! How can you possibly have dismissed Torano!?!?

Pick up one of the Exodus Gold label or Casa Torano cigars! Great re-introduction. The Casa Torano, especially, would be nice. Medium body, not too much depth, but all around great flavors.

I think you're better off waiting a bit longer personally. But if you have to go for it I'm with Proud Bear here on the Casa Torano...or something else on the mild side. Less spice, less "finish" as well would be good.

Do you have a CAO Black lying around? Yummy and a very crisp aftertaste so your palate won't be hung over, lol.

Also, go for the smallest size you have-- the less exposure the better. You'll want to cleanse your palate afterward as well.

YOur list of previous favorites looks good to me, why would you want to smoke something subpar for your first smoke in a while, perhaps the new Cruzado would be a good place to start.

I say steer clear from too much ligero and ye'll do fine. Though I'd wait at least for a whole week.

Listen to the medical guys and not us dumb cigar heads. Lots of time to smoke when you are healed.

try a Cabiguan, if I dont smoke for a week or so and I light up one of these medium bodied smokes, I can really enjoy them. Much more than after a week of smoking everyday.
