  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What text? I got no text... must have the wrong number...

But the answer is definitely NEW YORK baby!!!

Pizza is meant to be folded! It is the only way...

Now when it comes to hot dogs it is CHICAGO all the way!

Man I am starting to drool just thinking about that nuclear relish and sporty peppers...

STS
Well, since you all work in flavored tobacco... you could do an Acid ChiDog !

Hmmm... just maybe Frank, just maybe...

Back on Topic:

I think it is good for Willy, I think it is good for DE, I think it is good all the way around... I like the fact the WH is a legit cigar maker - actually knows tobacco, can make a cigar and has day-in-day-out experience of overseeing the production of cigars rather than someone who is pretending to know more than they actually know. My tolerance level for bs is very, very low...

So for me, this is win-win deal. Of course the proof will be in the pudding... let's see what Willy does with having unlimited access to tobacco and a great factory team to work with. I believe he is capable of and therefore, I am expecting nothing less than great cigars from him.

I gotta get off this thing and go QC the batch of Undercrown samples I just received, which is another TRADITIONAL cigar we blended and are making... <cough>

This damn forum stuff is addictive, plus I am now hungry as a mofo!

back on topic: very exciting news
I must say I celebrate all forms or Pizza lol. Although I do tend to lean slightly to the Chigago side.

TreeFrog: "Really? I think there's been a little bit of expansion... what's it called? Uhm...

Oh, yeah... totally forgot about that whole Liga Privada thing going on.

One line is a start TreeFrog, but our point was to show that Drew wants to continue expanding into that market. And apparently Drew Estate agrees that one line is not enough, because there are numerous projects in the works that are in that same direction. Look to us down the line for some more news as to their ever expanding non-flavored lines! They have some that The Cigar Feed has mentioned, but I can tell you from my sources that there are even more coming soon.

And I understood your point. We do joke and get sarcastic around here, often. Thanks for helping keep us informed. Always nice to know what's going on in this crazy world of cigars.

Also... Are you here to join our community, or to promote your blog? Feel free to make post #3 an introduction, in that forum.

Been fielding more than a few emails and phone calls regarding what happens to ETB as a result of this, so decided to post this:

First let me say, ETB is ETB's business, so we really have no control over it.

Now let me followup by saying, we really like and admire ETB, their owner Sandy, the great customers they have like Miami Cigars, Ernie Padilla and Sean Williams of El Primer Mundo, and so on.

This deal went down with Sandy's blessing, she knew it was a big opportunity for Willy and did not want to prevent it. This attitude just added to my personal admiration of her.

In turn, everyone knew what was going on and therefore there has been a lot of time afforded to ETB to prepare for the transition to ensure the work product of the ETB factory would remain the same and could continue to improve.

If for some reason Sandy felt the need for Willy to return to assist with some specific problem, then we would definitely not stand in the way of this. I doubt she will, as I said before, they are very capable factory with a solid core of torcedors.

ETB is a great fabriquita operated by great people and we want for them to enjoy nothing but continued growth and success. They are one of the few true Calle Ocho factories left, they make more than cigars, they are part of keeping the tradition of making cigars in Little Havana alive and vibrant.

Now stop emailing me... <snicker>

Hello from Chicagoland !

First off, let me begin by saying that B.O.T.L has become a second home for me. I enjoy the site immensely, from the informational source perspective to the opinions and reviews perspective, to the personal side, where I have been fortunate to get to know so many of you BOTL's and SOTL's online and then later in person.

With that said, there are a number of other exceptional Sites/Blogs that I also enjoy reading and learning from, even though I don't post on them as often as I would like to. Some of them include Stogie Review, ACIGARSMOKER, Stogie Guys, Smoking Stogie, Stogie Fresh, DogWatch Radio, Casas Fumando, Cigar-In-Hand, Nice Tight Ash, Puff.com, Cigar Explorer & Dan Reeve, Cigar Pass, Cigar Asylum, Cigar Bid, and the New S&S (and there are others).

Over the last year, there has been a Blogger who I have been extremely impressed with for his REPORTING on news, especially his Monday Weekly Blog. His name is Charlie Minato at CigarFeed. He caught my attention through his Twitter News Listings and I had asked him if he was interested in breaking the news about Willy Hererra joining Drew Estate when the deal was officially complete & contracts signed. He said he would and I was grateful.

Around the same time, however, Anthony C. at Cigar Brief discovered that there was a Willy/Drew deal upon the horizon and released a news story that was unofficial and incomplete (and in some parts misinformed), but still definitely informative. At first, it bothered me a bit that Anthony didn't call me, Email me, or DM me to try to get the scoop. I mentioned the situation to Charlie, who said that Anthony is a good guy and that he probably didn't mean to do anything with bad intention. (My) Lesson learned for not protecting our private information better. In the future, however, if anyone has any questions about any DE 411, please reach out to me or Saka through our emails or through our Facebook Direct Messages. We both appreciate the Blogesphere/ForumShpere and try to be readily accessable to help.

Very Best to all you guys, and thanks again for allowing me to participate on BOTL. Now, I'm going to proceed to the nearest Deep Dish Pizza joint that I can find - and piss them off by asking for thin crust, easily foldable, no fork & knife, good ole Pizza with extra gravy.

Bless,
JD

JD,

Since I started this let me say thanks for your engagement with this fine community. More importantly, thank you for being accessible and straight forward in your dealings.

Going forward, should I have a question regarding DE 411 I will reach out to you or Saka via e-mail.

Thanks again for all you do.

LOL, have fun getting tossed out of that pizza joint!?!

I agree JD that Charlie does a great job. His blog is very informative and is one of my few "go-to" blogs/sites. With that said, I have found with so many people having blogs out there now, people are trying whatever they can to get "scoops" because of the competition... not my ideal either as this thread shows that competition. I wouldn't take it personal, but rather remember the ones you can trust. Be happy knowing people want info about your company, you have worked your ass off getting to where you are now and these things just follow.

The next time you are in Plainfield, IL at The Burning Leaf you have to try this place called Baby Back Blues, they have very good pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, and rib tips. Their sauce is home made as well. Whenever I make it down to The Burning Leaf I make it a point to stop and eat.

Just for the record ... you wrote "Going forward, should I have a question regarding DE 411 I will reach out to you or Saka via e-mail."

Secondly, I have read so many of your posts throughout the entire time that I have been on the board and you have always been cool as hell and a great BOTL. So don't get it mixed up in any way. Keep on truckin !!
