I like my Xikars so much I've even been known to incorporate them into photography habit.

Palios, Xikars and Swiss Army Knives are generally considered the best cutters. Which one is best depends on personal opinion. Based on an unscientific count, it appears to me that Palios generally get more votes than the other two, but you can't really go wrong with any of them. If possible, try all three before buying. All of them operate differently, and have a different feel, from the others.

For cutter I prefer the Palio. I started with the Xikar xi2 but made the switch and only use the latter as a back up.
S.T. duPont Xtend is my daily and preferred lighter. I found the Ronson torch lighters they sell at Walmart for about 3 bucks are the best value I have ever found. I keep one everywhere so I am not without a torch.

I have a two Palios and an Xi...and a Blazer Shark which is a great travel cutter, folds up all purdy. I honestly have to say I hate the Xi, it's not very comfortable in my hand, makes for bad cutting. The Palio though, smooth cuts all the time. I will say that the Xi3s are really nice cutters though, a little more weight to themand thicker, which means easier to handle...for me at least.
I bought a Xikar Xi3 first, and had trouble figuring out how to get a decent cut with it, so I bought a Palio. With some practice I got the hang of the Xikar, and like it for use at the house, but the Palio is the one I carry with me. It seems to be a little more tolerant of the crud that lives in pockets than the Xi3 is.
