  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Here is the response I sent to my KS "lawmakers" that are in favor of this monstrosity (I Replace Ma'am for Sir for the chicks)

Sir,

If you raise the taxes on tobacco products we will just go to Missouri or online for our Cigars!

We choose to smoke cigars as a leisure activity (not a necessity) and if we need to go an extra 5 minutes to Missouri or wait a couple of more days, so be it.

This is counter productive to what you are trying to achieve with the additional taxes and it will also hurt our local Kansas small businesses.

Your vote for additional taxes may be a tough one, but my choice is an easy one!

Thank you,

(LoganV BOTL handle)

Kansas resident and cigar smoker

What'cha think?

Epic Fail!

Telling them this will just ensure that they close that loophole. There are already some states where it is illegal to ship tobacco into the state....

Even more of a reason to tax them. Luxury taxes are easy to pass...

Does not jive with previous statement since you said you choose to smoke, thus the taxes will not hurt you and you can afford that choice...

It is always good to let your view be heard but the wording is important....That is of course if anyone actually reads it......

JMHO!

Epic ?? .. probably not

Naive .. maybe

But,

I'm not telling them anything they don't already know, there trying to tax your breath ie. the carbon tax and the white fur tax could be next. :headroll:

But also if the words matter and they are read by a "lawmaker" possibly it will sink in that small cigar shops in KS are being hurt by more $$ going out of state (over the border or by mail) with the tax increase.

my extra 2c :cbig:

Logan, what's important to me is you stepped forward and did something, if more people did that than maybe we could be heard and have it make a difference!

Congrats on your efforts my friend!

and as with the schip tax, if you raise it so high no one buys the product, then you no longer have the tax revenue. stupid government
