Kaywoodie/ estate pipe stem taste...

I've got a neat little collection of kaywoodies now that I really like and I've discovered an annoyance in regards to the stem. After cleaning with everclear or scotch or iso the stem tastes like a latex balloon and its just nasty. Is that just due to the age of the materials or is it a product of using alcohol for cleaning?

I've heard of this before when using alcohol. My suggestion would be to rub some stem wax on it and buff it in good. Look for this stuff called "Paragon Wax".

obsidian oil works as well. or, short term and bootleg as all hell, use chapstick if you have to. o)

a little time and a little gente smoking should bring them right around.

Hey Ciggy Halcyon II is the newer and in some peoples mind better wax out, it doesn't require a buffer like the paragon wax. just my .02 i haven't tried either yet just obsidian oil and and a Savinelli Magic Cloth for me.

Damn...Wished I'd heard of that before I bought the paragon wax...I will have to look for that Halcyon II for sure and the Savinelli Magic cloth. Thanks bro for the pointers!
