BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I think that the .40 only comes in the stainless. The Pro Carry II has a 4" barrel.
Kimbers are sweeeeet! I've shot them at the range before, but don't own one. :sadstare:

drew -- I'm looking at a dressier pistol. in fact, my mind is almost set on a sig p226 elite, but saw some kimbers at the gun store that caught my fancy.
the springfield is too utilitarian looking, and besides I already have a glock 23.

Fortunately, the beauty of a Kimber is more than skin deep. It goes clear to the bone. My daily carry is a full frame Classic Stainless. I have been eyeballin' things a little more compact. Just today, I had my mitts on a Pro Carry II with the Kimber-branded Crimson Trace laser grips. I must ruminate.
I have been carrying an "ultra" compact but the frame is way to small for the larger calibers IMHO (.40 & .45).
I'm switching to the Glock 23 which is much easier to control in the .40 - IMHO of course.
The Kimbers are VERY nice though and shoot well.

Gotta agree....my Compact Carry (.45) in SS is a sweet shooter & carries easily. It's on me every day. Remember, a carry gun is not supposed to be comfortable, it's supposed to be comforting! Kimber's are fine weapons. Now...if Hogue would just come out with a laser grip like Trace.......:glassesgr

Kimber ultra Carry in .40 is the way to go. I much prefer the .357 sig round however. Also stay away from the laser grips. THe main reason is that with training you will place finger along side the weapon and it will block the laser. Many shooters also come overdependant on lasers and when the have to hit the dort or have another weapon, they find themselves not so prepared as they like to think.
Kimbers are good guns, but for a little larger, I would go with a H and K compact or a Sig 228 or 239. They are my favorite out there.
I carry a FN 5.7 mostly now and I am trying to get a compact custom made for me. They factory will do a run of 100 compacts, but I am awaiting ATF import approval. I love this round and by far consider it to be the best round on the market at the moment.

Speakin' of sellin'...I have an H&K USP Compact .45 available. Great shooter and a reliable performer but I keep comin' back to the Kimber and I'm lookin' to simplify.

Got a Custom Classic in .45 ACP that is the cat's meow. . .it is by far the most accurate out-of-the-box pistol I have ever fired. I have never had a FTF and would bet my life on it. Stick with a .45 in a 1911 style pistol. That is what it was designed to shoot. If you want a .40, go with Sig, Glock or HK.

Me, I'm not as big a fan of the .40 or 9mm...but that's only in comparison to .45 ACP. I do have one 9mm...the Kahr PM9. I bought it for those occasions when extreme concealability is called for...but it doesn't hurt that it's a handful of fun on the range. I've thought about picking one up in .40 but I'm still not so sure. Subjectively, I feel the .40 has a sharper recoil profile than .45 ACP and in a pistol as light as the PM40, I just might not be too fond of that. Besides, I just read that they're introducing a PM45 this summer.
