  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I think lanceros are my favorite vitola with one caveat. I get a LOT more draw issues than with the bigger ring cigars. Also, two of the five triunfadors I've smoked had tar build up in the last third. I loved the other three trunfies I smoked. Enough to buy a box. The tar issues appeared after I ordered the box. Tell me I just got unlucky. I don't want to end up tossing almost half the box. :sadcry:

Yep, tar is a huge issue with the Triunis. Better save yourself the trouble and just send em to me. for some reason, i 'm the only guy who actually likes the tar!!!!

j/k try purging when you get to that point where you notice the tar build up. that hsould help.

I think with most lanceros you just have to take a little more time with them. I have smoked quite a few lanceros lately and that seems to be the case with most of them IMO.

Smoke the Triunfies real slow. Also let them sit for a few months before you dig in again. I smoked one and decided to let them sit for 4-6 before I grab another.

I'm not a huge lancero fan but I know they are quite the rage. I was surprised when my local shop told me they couldn't sell them. Seems that goes against everything I've read.

You MUST draw on these more often and less deeply then your normal smokes you are used to smoking. Drawing deeply or too often will cause the tar build up. Like eodcole says they need some humidor time as well. Bball also hit on it, they need to be purged as well. Preferably more gently and lightly as well just like the draw with these. There needs to be more technique when smoking these sizes to enjoyed.

I've had a few lanceros recently and I'm really beginning to like them. Some did have draw issues, but from what I understand that could happen more often than with other vitolas. I like to try full-bodied cigars in that format. Less tobacco makes them easier to handle.

I haven't had any tar issues with the ETs... yet...

I purge & if a stick tars up, I clip the tip a bit & that will usually do the trick...

I also let them sit for a bit before smoking.. Also - I need to get a draw poker too - I hate having a plugged cigar.
