Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
Keep in mind "older" Cohibas did not have raised letters on the band.First, let me say I'm not an expert... but when I went overseas I did some research on the Cohiba... I actually picked up a fake and a real one. The big difference in the band was the raised foil stamped word "Cohiba." The fake was not raised... I'm not sure about the other bands... I was just looking for a Cohiba. There was something else about the number of boxes, but I can't remember. I smoke them and didn't keep the band of the fake... enjoy them.
This is what worried me. The band on the Cohiba does not overlap perfectly. Now, all that being said, the way bands are attached at the seam is one of the best places to look for potential fakes, especially with cohiba's. Habanos are meticulous, and the ends should mate together perfectly - cohiba is arguably habanos most popular and most profitable brand - not to mention the most recognized globally, and probably the most counterfeit.
I think we all had this idea of Cohiba being the "perfect cigar" when we first started. I too was very concious of the bands not being striaght or just right. As I found out from brothers on here that really know there stuff, the said that Bands on Cohiba's do have issues. The quality control of third world laborers is far from perfect. So the tabacco of the Cohiba is the for-front and not the band. Fake bands will usually have color issues or letter issues. This is what worried me. The band on the Cohiba does not overlap perfectly.
