Just went thru the process of evaluating five different LO binders. Ordered five 1/4 lb sample size: Ec Sec, Sumatra, Columbian, Honduran, and the CT2 LS. Five coronas in the mold now. Mild Hond seco filler in each. Gonna wrap all with remnants of FX CT shade. Attempting to let the flavor of each binder come thru. Gonna burn all five at one to find out what each binder adds to the mix.
Here's my eval so far:
Sumatra: too small and friable to bind. Had to double bind.
Columbian: small and coarse, but smells good, & a little bindier
Honduran: still not large, but wrapper worthy.
Ec Sec Shade: This is the wrapper leaf that was culled out because it is crunkled. Fine for binder
CT2 LS: Huge, veiny, somewhat holey, nice and stretchy, not many leaves per lb.
None of these have the plain old thick strength of your standard Dom binder leaf.
Damping up the FXXS CT now to wrap it on this evening.
