  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I just got thru spending 4 hours in the dentist chair and it was a marathon appointment to say the least. Upper and lower front teeth all new fillings and one nice little extraction to make room for a partial. My only thought thru out the whole ordeal ( while under gas ) was would I be able to have a cigar tonight? It's 4 hours later now and the novacaine has worn off,,,I'm popping vicodins like they are tic tacs and I'm looking forward to having my cigar in about two more hours. The Doc says not to suck on anything like straws or anything where I could dislodge the membrane over the tooth,,,dry socket he says. Thank God I believe in the old addage about having two sides to every mouth,,,can I get an amen here?

Thats rough man, but be careful sucking on anything. I got a dry socket when I got my wisdom teeth out from drinking with a straw and it hurt like a bitch!

I've heard you should take anywhere from 48 hours to two weeks after dental surgery before you smoke again. My dentist enjoys an occasional cigar and I think he said two weeks because you don't want the areas to get irritated, they'll take much longer to heal.

Ruh roh,,,,too late as I had a Gurkha Titan tonight and hope that doesn't make things rough. Seriously, how does one expect a cigar smoker to last 2 weeks? I'd be looking for another orifice to put my cigar in,,,and no, I don't need any help with that.:bouncetau

I hear ya on that as I have had a dry socket before and don't relish another one,,,,so I'm being careful to puff on the other side.

I can't even fathom smoking anything after dental surgery. I had my wisdom teeth removed and was told to not use straws for a while. I forgot and used a straw. I can't even describe the amount of pain I was in.

That's nothin.

I had all of my teeth pulled last year (on my birthday, mind you). Took me 2 weeks before I could herf. Lost about 20 pounds I didn't have to lose.

Got a hereditary thing from the old man. Great set of teeth but no bone to hold them in. That sucks. I am 43 with false teeth. But they sure look good.

Don't mess with the "dry socket" deal. If you get it, you won't be happy.
