Not to take the joy from your excitement, Brother - and I am sure I will get fried by the members here who feel they can see the invisible threads of the king's robe - but two nights ago I smoked the last of a dozen Partagas salomones I had purchased a year ago. Although it was OK, came to the same conclusion I do everytime I make those lofty purchases, letting myself get suckered into the "Cubans are Superior" myth . They ain't.
Don't get me wrong, they ARE good. And, my man, I truly do hope you just get the best glow ever, each time you torch one up and revel in its rich, smooth aromas. But the reality is, the qualities in this cigar are not superior to any degree close to paying up to 4 or 5 times the cost of a comparable Brazilian puro. I realize I am commiting blasphemy to some here or preaching to empty pews. But my opinion comes from buying, trying, buying, trying and then doing it all over again. If Cubans were vastly superior, I would echo the mantra, but that is not the case. I will be reviewing a U.S.A. accessible AND FULLY LEGAL cigar that rivals all but three (very costly) CCs in every sense, at a third of the cost of what this brother probably paid for his black market CCs. I will post that review later today.
Again, bravo on making the American smoker's dream come true and hope you love the heck out of each and every gar you just bought. To avoid even the possibilty of ammonia (nothing quite ruins the experience like ammonia smell), be sure to give them a month of aging.
